Police are investigating a brutal house robbery in Betty’s Bay after a 68-year-old woman was tied up, strangled and assaulted by intruders in her home.

At 04:25 on early Monday morning (10 August), Kleinmond police registered the house robbery case.

According to police, two unidentified males confronted the woman at the address after they gained entry into the house by “taking out”a lounge window.

“The suspects tied the victim’s hands behind her back, strangled and assaulted her [while] demanding money, safe keys and jewellery,” said the police in correspondence with Hermanus Times.

Following this incident, the suspects reportedly took the victim’s Toyota Fortuner vehicle and belongings and fled the scene. The car was found abandoned in Gordon’s Bay before it was subsequently taken to Stikland for further processing.
