Non-profit organisations the world over have had a hard time surviving the lockdown restrictions of the last two years, and Helderberg Hospice was not left unscathed. Fundraising efforts have been severely limited, while costs have continued to increase. Offering high-quality, internationally accredited, professional palliative care to those impacted by life threatening illnesses in all communities of the basin, stretches Helderberg Hospice’s resources to the limit, and community support is truly invaluable, like the support it received from the Union of Jewish Women Cape Town’s Somerset West and Stellenbosch branch. The group has been supporters of Helderberg Hospice for many years and have once again come to the aid of the organisation by donating much needed adult diapers for patients. The donation provides patients with dignity and comfort at a difficult time in their lives, a gesture for which hospice is grateful. Michelle Millers, chairperson of the Union of Jewish Women’s Somerset West and Stellenbosch branch, was on hand to handover the donation to hospice.
