A 37-year-old man was arrested for possession of an imitation firearm, drugs and stolen property on 6 June at 17:30 at Libertas Farm, Die Boord. “Members of Saps Stellenbosch Crime Prevention were busy doing crime prevention duties when they received information about a person at an address having a firearm in his possession,” said police spokesperson Captain Nathalie Martin. “Members proceeded to the address and at the shack they found an unknown male and asked his permission to search the place.” After giving permission they proceeded with the search and found an imitation firearm in a hole under the floor. “They also asked the suspect if he had papers for the bicycle in his possession and he answered, no,” Martin said. “A piece of newspaper with tik in it and a small black bag with Mandrax and cash in it was also found.” The suspect appeared in Stellenbosch Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 8 June.
