Join acclaimed cellist Carol Thorns for a sunset concert at The Sanctuary at La Roche in Franschhoek on Sunday 26 October.
The breathtaking setting provides the perfect backdrop for an evening of beautiful and inspiring music, featuring original cello compositions from Thorns’ award-nominated album, Sanctuary, recorded at the same venue and honoured with a South African Music Award (Sama) nomination for Best Instrumental Album in 2023.
A sought-after performer both locally and abroad, Thorns has graced prestigious stages across South Africa, Europe and the UAE. Through her company, Red Cello Productions, she has created a portfolio of spectacular original acts, including The Bubble, Rosanthorn Trio, CODA Africa, and The Galaxy Dress.

Thorns will be joined by fellow musicians from the popular Afro-fusion band CODA Africa Sethu G (vocals) and Renate Riedemann (violin) for a richly varied programme that moves from soulful string duos to inspired arrangements of much-loved South African songs.
“Performing at The Sanctuary is deeply meaningful to me,” she said. “It’s not only a breathtaking location, but also the place where I’ve created some of my most inspired work. I’ve recorded an album here and filmed two music videos and the acoustics are absolute perfection.
“This concert marks a milestone in my musical journey over the past five years, shared with my talented CODA Africa band mates, a celebration of friendship, creativity and the mountains that surround us.”
Guests are invited to enjoy the exquisite setting with a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival as day turns to dusk. A cash bar will also be available.
The doors open at 17:30, and the concert runs from 18:00 to 19:00. Book your place online through Quicket.
