Stellenbosch team’s cyclists showing their mettle in XCO rides

Three Fairtree DP World Cannondale riders, Damon Terblanche (front), Luyanda Tobigunya (back) and Zaindro Jordaan, were in action in the XCO Championships at the Spice Route in Paarl on Saturday 4 May. The team has participated in more XCO events lately, and their experience in the mountain-bike racing form is starting to show, with Terblanche and Tobigunya finishing in the top 10 of the elite men’s category. Terblanche finished in eighth place in a time of 1:31:13, closely followed by Tobigunya, in ninth place with a time of 1:32:13. In the under-23 men’s category Jordaan finished in 11th place, in a time of 1:23. “As in 2023, we are hoping some of our riders will qualify for world championships and also gain provincial colours,” said team manager Chris Norton.
