Nicola van der Merwe, a Western Cape and Boland athlete, broke the under-15 girls’ javelin record at the recent Autumn National School Sports Championship held in Paarl. The Grade 9 Rhenish Girls’ High School learner recorded a 53,36 m, breaking the record of 50,63 m set in 2016.
