The matric class of Bridge House College achieved a flawless pass rate in the 2025 Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations, with the Franschhoek school achieving this feat for the 29th consecutive year.

Remarkably, one in three learners of the school’s matric class achieved five or more distinctions and the school boasts an average of 2,75 distinctions per learner.

Liam Kruger, Bridge House’s dux learner, achieved an outstanding 10 subject distinctions: accounting; Afrikaans first additional language (92%); economics (92%); English home language (91%); history (93%); life orientation (90%); mathematics (97%); physical sciences; further studies English; and further studies mathematics (94%).

Together with Rahel Hartmann, Liam achieved a top 5% in six or more subjects, as well as a Level 7 in life orientation, placing them on the IEB’s Outstanding Achievement List.

Two Bridge House learners, Emma Adshade and Madison George, achieved eight distinctions, while six learners – Kate Adshade; Paula Graaff; Rahel Hartmann; Drew Kent; Jack Vorster; and Lukas Winter – achieved seven subject distinctions.

Madison George ranked in the top 5% in five subjects and achieved a Level 7 in life orientation, which led to her inclusion on the IEB’s Commendable Achievement List.

Furthermore eight individual subject results placed Bridge House learners in the top 1% nationally. They were Jack Vorster (accounting); Nicola de Jongh (Afrikaans first additional language); Madison George (business studies); Kate Adshade, Liam Kruger and Luka Winter (English home language); Maya Ethelston and Rahel Hartmann (German second additional language); Emma Adshade (life orientation); Jack Vorster and Liam Kruger (mathematics); and Kiara Patel (visual arts).

Said Morag Malcolm, the school’s deputy head of academics and pastoral care: “I wish to express my gratitude to all the teachers, from pre-primary to matric, who recognised and nurtured the potential in every student. Thank you to all the parents and guardians for their continued support and to the IEB for yet another efficiently administered National Senior Certificate examination session. We know the Bridge House class of 2025 will thrive and we wish them well as they enter the next stage of their lives.”
