Exhibition of unique wedding dresses at Grosvenor House

In celebration of Women’s Month (August) and Heritage Month (September), the Stellenbosch Museum has a temporary exhibition of wedding dresses which can be viewed at Grosvenor House, the third house in the Village Museum complex, until the end of September. Each wedding dress on display conveys a unique story of love, tradition and cultural legacy, giving visitors an insight into the diverse historical aspects of weddings in South Africa. The collection showcases a variety of stylistic elements and designs that reflect changing styles and influences throughout different periods. At the launch of the exhibition (from left) are Debbie Gabriëls (museum manager), Ella Ordendaal (research curator of the wedding dress exhibition), photographer Lezhane Ontong, and Lamees Petersen (education officer at the museum). Ontong’s photographs feature in the exhibition. The Village Museum is open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00, and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00. For enquiries, call 021 887 2937.
