The Afrikaanse Christelike Vroue-Vereniging Stellenbosch (ACVV) hosted an Early Childhood Development (ECD) training session on Saturday 21 November in co-operation with AF Louw Primary School facilitated by Almarie Coetzee (remedial therapist) and was attended by about 40 parents. It was organised by social workers Josè Kritzinger and Elza Basson assisted by Ivana Jacobs.

This training is regarded as a preliminary session for a more comprehensive and sustainable programme next year. Financing must still be obtained, and anyone interested in helping can contact the chairperson, Leon de Villiers by calling 021 887 6959.

De Villiers said that he was very pleased to experience the enthusiasm of the parents who requested a follow-up. Although ECD is supposed to take place before a child starts to attend primary school it is “never too late” to assist parents and children with a better opportunity in life.
