Following the resounding success of this year’s Investec South African Open at Stellenbosch Golf Club, Golf RSA has announced that the 116th Investec South African Open will return to the picturesque Cape Winelands next year.

Golf’s second-oldest open enjoyed record success when it was held in the City of Oaks from 26 February to 1 March, generating almost R300 million for the local economy in a powerful partnership between the Sunshine Tour, DP World Tour and PGA Tour.

On Monday 17 August, the organisers announced the championship will be staged again at the Stellenbosch Golf Club from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 March 2027.

Exemptions pathway

The championship continues to be a premier showcase of the global strategic alliance among the Sunshine Tour, DP World Tour and PGA Tour, to be buoyed even further in 2027 with an increase of the prize fund to US$2 million.

A further elevation among the leading opens, for the first time ever it has offered exemptions into this year’s Open and Masters, two iconic majors Casey Jarvis’ victory has given him a place in.

“The championship was a source of national pride as it generated almost R300 million in economic impact, provided roughly 400 jobs and delivered a net sponsorship value of R1,1 billion…”

Support extended

Investec has extended its five-year sponsorship.

“This reflects Investec’s commitment to growing the game at every level from elite national championships to transformation initiatives…,” said Peta Dixon, Investec’s head of sponsorships.

The 2027 Investec South African Open will also feature three new qualifying venues in Pretoria – at Irene Country Club, Wingate Country Club and Waterkloof Golf Club.

For the first time there will also be a new Last Chance Qualifier in the Western Cape before the championship.
