Boland College recently received an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) by the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI).

Boland College reached a significant sustainability milestone with the successful issuance of an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) by the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI), demonstrating compliance with SANS 1544:2014 standards and reinforcing the college’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure management.

The EPC certification relies on actual operational energy data, measuring building performance thresholds to ensure mandatory compliance for public buildings under the National Energy Act while mitigating legal and financial risks.

“This achievement reflects our commitment to responsible governance and sustainable operations,” said deputy principal Danny Plaatjies. “It ensures that our facilities are not only compliant, but efficient and future-focused in how we manage public infrastructure.”

The certification process was expertly led by the Infrastructure Department under assistant director Rees Davids and his team.
