Amid the rhythm of Cloetesville’s community life, the Karate-Zen Cloetesville Dojo continues to demonstrate that martial arts is more than movement; it is a living bridge linking schools, families and futures.
Founded in 1983, the dojo remains a cornerstone of positive discipline, uniting generations through physical training, mindfulness and community service.
Today, under the leadership of Shihan Garfield Bergstedt and Sensei Marlon Davidse, the dojo works hand-in-hand with local partners to uplift spirits and strengthen educational pathways.
At the recent Karate-Zen National Awards 2025 in Parow, the organisation honoured excellence across South Africa.
The Parow Dojo, led by Hanshi Nellie Roux, received Dojo of the Year. Cloetesville’s instructors stood proudly among their peers, carrying the local flame into the national spotlight.
