It has been a successful September for the Fairtree DP World Cannondale cycling team with standout performances at the recent Go2Berg event. Yomelela Mfazwe and Winile Majavu were the MTB team members who took on the Go2Berg, which took place from Saturday 13 to Friday 19 September. This is the first time that the Stellenbosch-based team took part in the amazing event and the women did not disappoint. The race started in Villiers, 90 minutes south of Johannesburg in the North-Eastern Free State town, and riders made their way through the Free State towns of Frankfort, Reitz, Clarens, the Sterkfontein Dam and from there it was a massive drop from the Free State into KwaZulu-Natal. After a few nights in Emseni the women made it to the finish on the foothills of the mighty Drakensberg Mountain Range. Majavu completed the race in 21:43:52, while teammate Mfazwe completed it in 22:09:53.

Closer to home five of the team's members tackled the Lourensford MTB Classic. The riders took on the 12 km long and 600 m high route in the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountains. Locals Ziandro Jordaan (2:24:31) and Luyanda Tobigunya (2:24:31) finished in the top 20, and all in the top 20 of their respective categories. Tobigunya was also crowned the champion of his age group. According to team manager Chris Norton the team is growing from strength to strength and looks forward to some great team racing soon. The team thanks their "amazing sponsors" for making these opportunities possible.
