Khayelitsha Safety and Security Forum chair Bonga Zamisa condemned the incident, stating that the shooting of the officer is like attacking the state. He stated that the escalation of crime in the area is alarming.

“There are a lot of shooting incidents in the area and illegal firearms that are in the wrong hands. We need more boots on the ground and the installation of more CCTV cameras in the area to assist the officers in their investigation,” he said.

Zamisa urged the community to work with law enforcement to curb crime.
