Nolufefe Mzondi, a young singer-songwriter from Khayelitsha, is expected to launch her new extended play (EP) on Friday 7 August at the District Six Museum‘s Homecoming Centre in Buitenkant Street, Cape Town.

The EP, entitled “Imbilini Yam“, comprises four songs, and the 36-year-old describes her music as Afro-Soul.

Mzondi’s musical journey began at primary school

Affectionately known as “Festa M” in music circles, she said she started singing at primary school.

“Most of the time I sang solos at school and in high school I was exceptional. I started singing professionally with a group called Heavenly Quartez from Makhaza, Khayelitsha and released one album with them in 2010, entitled Isiqalo.“

Music has always been a calling for Mzondi

Mzondi describes music as a calling.

“This is my first EP; I composed three of the songs on it. The material I write is mostly about my own experiences and the things happening around me. And this is how I express myself.”

She urged her supporters to come in their numbers to see her perform live, showcasing her dazzling voice. She said tickets are available at Webticket for R350 (general) and R500 (VIP).
