Nyanga gospel artist Sihlanu Tshaka is set to launch his extended play (EP) at Rhabe Presbyterian Church, opposite the Zolani Centre in Nyanga Saturday 30 May. The three-track EP is already available on all music platforms.

Early beginnings in music

Tshaka described his latest project as a special one. “The title of the EP is Dear Qamata. All the songs in the EP were written by me. I wrote about my journey, my experiences and things happening around me. To me, singing is about a calling,” he said.

He shared that he started singing at a young age in Sunday School and grew up immersed in music.

Success with Jongi & Sihlanu

The 41-year-old gospel singer began recording music in 2004 with his friend Jongi. Together, they formed a group called Jongi & Sihlanu and released five albums.

“Our first album, Sikelela Jesu, came out in 2004. It was followed by Makabongwe in 2010, Sibulela Wena Thixo in 2013, Umsindisi Uhamba Nathi in 2015, and our last album, Ungumhlobo, in 2017,” he explained.

Transition to a solo career

After that, the duo went their separate ways. Tshaka made his return in 2023, releasing his first solo EP titled Qala Ngam, which also featured three songs.

He urged his supporters to attend the launch in large numbers.

“I invite everyone to come and support and to find healing for their souls through music,” he said.
