The incident occurred at about 09:00, when a 42-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded.

“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made,” said Twigg.
Resident raises concern over crime rate
A resident, who asked to be identified only as Thimna for fear of harassment, said she was not sure what caused the shooting.
“When I arrived on the scene, the body was already covered. I am not sure what really happened and I don’t want to speculate about that,” said Thimna.
However, she stated that the crime rate is high in the area. She said spaza shops are being robbed in broad daylight.
“Extortion is real here. Early this year, there were several incidents where people alleged to be extortionists were killed. But I am not saying the shooting incident is extortion-related,” she said.
