Season of giving marked in appropriate fashion

Christmas celebrations are in full swing at the Windmill Casino in Bloemfontein.

On 4 December the Christmas Garden Lights were switched on. The event brought an incredible turnout of families, friends and holiday enthusiasts.

The evening raised valuable support for Windmill’s beneficiary, the New Beginnings Animal Shelter.

“Thank you Windmill, and all visitors, for your generous donations. It costs more than R220 000 a month to run our operations, and we care for up to 70 animals at any given time,” said Natalie Kotze, president of New Beginnings.

“Every donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated, especially during this festive season.”

For visitors who would like to donate pet food, blankets, beds, bowls or toys, a donation box was placed in the casino foyer, opposite Rosie’s Restaurant.

Johan Oosthuizen, general manager of Windmill Casino, described a heart-warming event.

“Seeing so many members of the community come together to celebrate the festive season was truly special. We are proud to host an event that spreads joy, supports a local charity, and creates lasting memories. We welcome everyone to return throughout December to enjoy the lights and share in the spirit of giving.”

The lights remain on and will continue to shine until Monday 5 January.

To keep the festive fun going, live music, a vibrant night market, and plenty of activities for the little ones will follow.

Children can meet Santa and his cheerful helpers in the enchanting Santa’s Village on Thursday 18 December. Here they can share their Christmas wishes. Parents can capture these magical moments with keepsake photos of their children’s visit.

Santa’s Village will be open from Thursday, through to Saturday 20 December, from 16:00 to 22:00 each evening. Entry is free.

■ The ultimate New Year’s Eve Street Bash Party will take place at the Wimdmill Casino on Wednesday 31 December from 18:00 to 01:00, with entertainment for the whole family, street-style food, DJs and live entertainment by local bands. Entry is free.
