BLOEMFONTEIN – The fraud case involving Mohau Jim Ntsasa, a fleet management officer at the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Bloemfontein, drags on four years after his arrest. He is scheduled to reappear before the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court from 26 to 28 October.

The accused faces a charge of fraud involving R100 000, arising from the alleged use of the state petrol card to refuel his private vehicle. The Bloemfontein-based Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team arrested Ntsasa in November 2022 on prima facie evidence of wrongdoing following an intensive investigation. He is out on bail of R3 000 following a court appearance.
The probe revealed the incident took place between December 2020 and 31 October 2022.

The Hawks’ investigation uncovered a strong possibility of conspiracy at a Bloemfontein garage where the state petrol card was reportedly used for fraudulent transactions. Collusion was suspected because the transactions with the card were processed at this specific garage and the accused allegedly used the petrol card to refuel his private vehicle with diesel.

The Hawks launched an investigation after a preliminary audit conducted at the Bloemfontein DPP offices discovered irregular transactions. It was established that the DPP’s vehicle, for which the petrol card was issued, had been taken for repairs at the garage at the time.
