BLOEMFONTEIN – Several learners of the Eunice High School excelled in events they recently participated in. Caitlin Jones in Gr. 11 did exceptionally well in the Afrikaans Eisteddfod. She took part in four categories and received A++ symbols in all. She attained 98% in dramatic prosa, 98% in storytelling, 95% in poetry and 95% in drama monologue.
In sport, several learners reached top positions.
Vivienne van der Schyff (Gr. 11) won the Assore PSA Satellite Squash Tournament held in Johannesburg on 23 May and received her Protea blazer at the event.
Lisabelle Beukes and Zoe Morgado, who are both Gr. 9 learners, competed in the Free State Laser Run Championships on 23 May in Bloemfontein. Lisabelle won the U17 race and Zoe was placed second. Following these results, they have both been selected for the Free State laser run team and will be participating at the South African championships in Pietermaritzburg, to be held in July.

Carla Fourie (Gr. 8) and Lucia Fourie (Gr. 10) represented the Motheo District in the South African Country and Western Dancing District challenge. The Motheo team was placed third overall. Carla ended first in her division and Lucia second. This qualified them for the Free State team, and they will represent the province at the inter provincial challenge in August.
Mianke Gerber (U15) qualified in the Dance Talent and Model Association (DTMA) trials in April and won first place in hip-hop in the age group 15 to 17 years. She then took part in the national round from 22 to 24 May, where she received a third place nationally.
