The negative impact of fraud globally is in focus until Sunday, 24 November, with International Fraud Awareness Week having started on 17 November.

The campaign focusing on raising public awareness about this negative impact, globally, highlights the scourge of fraud in society and creates opportunity to maximise the efforts of the various sectors to address this growing challenge.

According to the 2024 Interpol Africa Cyberthreat Assessment Report, phishing emails have been identified as the most common attack vector for business email compromise scams in nearly 80% of African member countries in 2023.

Affected countries reported that, in combination with phishing emails, syndicates are exploiting various media as part of schemes, including text messages, phone calls and virtual meetings.
