The Western Cape\u2019s matric pass rate for 2017 increased from 82,8% to 84,3%, following the completion of supplementary examinations.<\/p>\n
A total of 933 candidates passed the supplementary examinations, which were written in February and March, while an additional 105 candidates also passed their matric after successfully applying for a re-mark. <\/p>\n
A total of 1 038 pupils have now achieved their National Senior Certificate (NSC) for 2017.<\/p>\n
Education MEC Debbie Schafer extended her congratulations to those who passed their exams.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heartiest congratulations go to these learners who did not give up on themselves, learnt from their failures and just tried one more time, to ensure that they achieved their National Senior Certificate,\u201d she said in a statement. \u201cI am incredibly proud of you and wish you the very best for your future with an NSC Certificate in hand.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Western Cape achieved the highest percentage of pupils qualifying for bachelor degree study in 2018.<\/p>\n
Schafer said 194 pupils who wrote the supplementary exams achieved a bachelor\u2019s pass, and 81 who successfully applied for a re-mark achieved a bachelor\u2019s pass.<\/p>\n
Candidates who have yet to receive their results via the post can contact the Western Cape Education Departments\u2019 certification\/examinations division to obtain their results, by phoning 021 467 2000. For those candidates who did not pass, they will have until 31 May 2018 to register for the 2018 NSC examinations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
