The South African Police Service (Saps) invites applications from all races and genders for enlistment in its Basic Police Development Learning Programme (BPDLP), for young, energetic, intelligent, physically and mentally fit individuals dedicated to serving their country by pursuing a career in policing.<\/p>\n
\n Basic enlistment requirements:<\/span>\n<\/p>\n \n .<\/span> A South African citizen, for which documentary proof must be furnished,<\/p>\n \n .<\/span> In possession of a Grade 12 school certificate, or a National Certificate for (Vocational) Safety in Society,<\/p>\n \n .<\/span> Submitting oneself to a physical medical examination, as determined by the national commissioner, to verify physical and mental fitness for appointment to the post he or she applies for,<\/p>\n \n .<\/span> Being proficient in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English,<\/p>\n \n .<\/span> Having no previous criminal convictions and\/or pending criminal, civil, disciplinary cases.<\/p>\n All applicants will be subjected to fitness, psychometric and integrity testing as well as medical evaluation and will be interviewed during the recruitment, selection and enlistment process. <\/p>\n Saps will also verify the criminal record, qualifications, driver\u2019s licence, citizenship and residential address of each applicant.<\/p>\n Applicants in possession of a valid driver\u2019s licence for at least a light motor vehicle will receive preference.<\/p>\n Successful applicants will participate in the Basic Police Development Learning Programme for a period of 21 months.<\/p>\n Remuneration for the Induction Phase and Basic Training Phase will be a stipend of R4 500.<\/p>\n How to apply:<\/p>\n \n .<\/span> Application forms are obtainable from all local police stations.
