Every time Worcesterites go to the movies at Nu Metro in the Mountain Mill Mall, they can now donate R5 to help save South Africa\u2019s lions. <\/p>\n
Nu Metro Cinemas has joined hands with the Four Paws Animal Welfare Foundation in the cause of \u201cRise Up and Roar\u201d conservation. Moviegoers can donate their R5 as part of their movie ticket purchases online and in-cinema. <\/p>\n
Four Paws, a global organisation, relies solely on donations and Nu Metro wants to play a constructive role in creating a better world for SA\u2019s big cats, says Chantelle Burrows of Nu Metro Cinemas. \u201cWe are proud to be a fundraising partner for this very important cause relevant to all human beings. A R5 donation per movie ticket purchase is all we ask from our customers\u2009\u2013\u2009if you care as much as we do about the future of our animals and environment in Southern Africa,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow Four Paws will be able to highlight the incredible work that goes into rescuing abused big cats and to rehabilitate them to the glorious animals they were meant to be,\u201d states Fiona Miles, Four Paws director (South Africa). <\/p>\n
According to Miles not only will the big cats of the Lionsrock sanctuary benefit, but it will also highlight the plight of the lions in South Africa. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope through this partnership our education drive will raise more awareness about the status of these majestic animals and that people will help us to give them the ultimate protection and finally restore the roar of the lion.\u201d<\/p>\n
With over 100 big cats in the care of Four Paws at Lionsrock near Bethlehem in the Free State, they constantly look at ways to ensure the longevity of this project through donation support. These big cats consume almost 3\u2009500\u2009kg meat per week and regular vet checks, maintenance to security and enclosures and further development of the sanctuary must be done in order to accommodate rescued animals. <\/p>\n
Nu Metro\u2019s website and self-service terminals in all their cinemas nationwide will have a special button on-screen for donations to be added for FOUR PAWS as part of movie ticket purchases. <\/em> <\/p>\n
