A woman from Zwelethemba who allegedly scalded her son with boiling water, was apprehended after a week of dodging the police.<\/p>\n
The 43-year-old woman, from Hlalele Street, allegedly scalded her 21-year-old son with boiling water, which she had thrown in his face on 6 February.<\/p>\n
For a week after the incident the woman was on the run, having fled from her house, and the police could not find her. \u201cShe was eventually arrested on Sunday in Matroos Street, after police had received information about her place of hiding,\u201d WO Vathiswa Jacobs, police spokesperson, said. The young man had been sleeping when the boiling-water attack occurred.<\/p>\n
The woman appeared in the Worcester Magistrates\u2019 Court in 16 February on a charge of assault with the intention to inflict grievous bodily harm.<\/p>\n
A witness, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Standard<\/em> the young man would not allow his mother to bring her boyfriend to their home before going to sleep. \u201cThe woman then went into the house, put on the kettle, boiled the water and threw it in his face,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n The witness further shared the man had come running out of the house, pleading for help.
