The victim of a farm attack in Nuy, who stitched himself up after he was stabbed, is thankful for the swift action by the police to apprehend the suspect.<\/p>\n
Rob Myburgh, a military medic, praised the outstanding service of the police service after they assisted with tracking down a suspect who stabbed him on Monday evening. Myburgh was stabbed in the arm by the assailant at a farm in Nuy.<\/p>\n
The incident took place last Monday (25 April) at 22:00. According to a statement given by the police, Myburgh and his friends from a neighbouring farm were having dinner at his house at Werda Farm, Nuy. <\/p>\n
After the dinner, he escorted the neighbours outside to their vehicles and he left the front door open. When Myburgh came back to the house and was about to enter into the house by the door, he was met by a tall man. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe man stabbed the victim once on his right upper arm with a knife. Myburgh then told him that he is going to shoot him and the suspect ran away,\u201d says WO Vathiswa Jacobs, spokesperson for the Worcester police.<\/p>\n
\u201cWithin 35 minutes of the incident they had caught him and got my goods back,\u201d says Myburgh.<\/p>\n
He says the police were still taking statements at 02:00 and seeing if he was okay. He adds that they wanted to take him to the hospital but with his medical background he decided to stitch himself up, cleaned up the wound and took antibiotics the following morning.<\/p>\n
Myburgh says the assailant confessed to the police that he walked into the house and stabbed him.<\/p>\n
He says he wants to thank Frans Pietersen from the Overhex Farm Watch who initiated the search effort and checked up on him the following day.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnybody that says they have phoned the police and nobody comes, I can assure you I phoned them and about 20 officers and Frans and his team were on the case the whole time, getting statements and covering every aspect of the operation. It was outstanding, in the navy we say Bravo Zulu, well done. They need some credit for that,\u201d says Myburgh.<\/p>\n
