Die befaamde Augustus-wind het die afgelope twee weke nie net goeie re\u00ebnval gebring nie, maar in die Vallei amok gesaai. <\/p>\n

Twee huise, \u2019n onderneming se advertensiebord en \u2019n vragmotor het in die slag gebly toe die wind Woensdag 24 Augustus sterk in die vallei gewoed het.<\/p>\n

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Weerdiens het bevestig dat die wind in die Worcester-streek tussen 22:00 en 04:10 teen tussen 45 en 55 km\/h uur gewaai het.<\/p>\n

\u201cOns het seker so 21:00 se kant gaan slaap en die wind hoor aankom, maar nie veel daarvan gedink nie. Ek was kort-kort wakker, want die huis se vensters het behoorlik weens die sterk wind geruk. Ek het omtrent 01:30 \u2019n hengse slag gehoor. Dit het geklink asof iemand in ons huis vasgery het.\u201d<\/p>\n

S\u00f3 vertel Martin Viljoen, \u2019n boer buite Worcester, wie se huis deur \u2019n boom getref is nadat die wind \u2019n spoed van sowat 50 km\/h bereik het.<\/p>\n

Wendy Ar\u00eandse van Riverview is steeds hartseer dat \u2019n boom haar onlangs voltooide huis se dak verwoes het. <\/div>\n

\u201cEk is dadelik uit om te kyk. Toe ek weer sien, het \u2019n boom \u2019n deel van die sitkamerdak verwoes. Alles was onder stof en die skade beloop sowat R15 000 om alles te herstel en te vervang. Selfs ons TV en een bank het ongelukkig seergekry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wendy Ar\u00eandse, \u2019n inwoner van Riverview, s\u00ea sy het haar huis in 2021 klaar gebou en was baie trots op di\u00e9 projek. Ongelukkig het die wind ook \u2019n boom op haar nuwe struktuur laat tuimel. <\/p>\n

\u201cDie skade is nie so erg nie. Alles binne staan nog, maar ek gaan \u2019n hele sinkplaat moet vervang en hout moet koop om dit reg te maak. Ek het so groot geskrik. Ek het die wind gehoor en dit het my bang gemaak, maar ek het nie d\u00edt verwag nie,\u201d vertel sy aan Standard<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u2019n Groot advertensiebord by \u2019n bekende motorhandelaar in Hoogstraat het ook omgewaai, maar geen grootskaalse skade is veroorsaak nie.<\/p>\n

\u2019n Vragmotor het ook teen die sterk Worcester-wind verloor nadat die vragmotor net buite Rawsonville op die N1 omgewaai het. <\/p>\n

Die polisie het die voorval bevestig en die toneel saam met verkeersowerhede beveilig. <\/p>\n

Niemand is beseer nie. <\/p>\n
