Entries are now open for the annual Winelands Cycle race on Sunday 22 January. The race will start and finish at Huguenot Primary in Wellington. It will be an excellent race to help you gear up and improve your seeding for the Cape Town Cycle Tour 2023.<\/p>\n

There will be two races, with online registration, timing and seeding by RaceTec, under the auspices of the Pedal Power Association. The races will start in General Hertzog Boulevard and from there cyclists can travel on two routes in the rural area.<\/p>\n

The first race over 102 km starts at 06:00 (entry fee is R350). It is for more experienced riders and will be a seeding race for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The route takes riders to Hermon, Riebeek West and Voor Paardeberg (Slent Road) and then back to Wellington on the R44.<\/p>\n

The second race, over 52 km, starts at 08:00 (entry fee R260). Riders travel via the Lady Loch Road and take the R45 towards Malmesbury, turning left at Slent Road to merge with the long route, returning to Wellington via the R44. Refreshments and a bike park will be available at the finish. <\/p>\n

The closing date for online entries is Monday 16 January 2023 at 17:00 but late entries will be accepted on the day at a higher fee (R450 for the long race and R310 for the short race) from 05:00 unless 2 500 riders have entered before that time. Race numbers can be collected at Bicycle Garage in the Laborie Centre in Paarl South on Friday 20 January from 14:00 to 17:00 or on Saturday 21 January from 09:00 to 11:30 at the Cape Town Cycle tour office in Avenue De Mist, Rondebosch, or from 13:00 to 16:00 at Chris Willemse Cycles at Willowbridge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
