Verbruikers betaal dus meer vir minder krag,\u201d s\u00ea Jannie Strydom, hoof uitvoerende beampte van Agri Wes-Kaap (AWK).<\/p>\n<p>AWK het tydens die openbare verhoor pertinent beklemtoon dat landbou nie \u2018n tariefverhoging bo inflasie kan bekostig nie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLandboubedrywe se energiebehoeftes bly dieselfde ongeag die elektrisiteitstarief. Produsente word nou genoop om in alternatiewe elektrisiteitsbronne te investeer, wat enorme kapitaal verg,\u201d voer Strydom verder aan.<\/p>\n<p>Di\u00e9 tariefverhoging is van toepassing op Eskom se direkte kli\u00ebnte en sal op 1 April 2023 in werking tree, terwyl die verhoging vir munisipale kli\u00ebnte eers op 1 Julie 2023 in werking tree. Munisipaliteite het nou die geleentheid om aansoek vir \u2018n tariefverhoging te doen en sal waarskynlik \u2018n toeslag vir hul kli\u00ebnte byvoeg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoedselsekuriteit kan nie alleenlik op die skouers van produsente rus nie. Voedselproduksie is tans onder geweldige druk, en besluitnemers sal die erns van die saak moet besef &#8211; dringende ingryping is nodig,\u201d s\u00ea
