Plaaslike inwoners wat al jare lank droom om eendag \u2019n huis van hul eie te besit, se wens het gister (Woensdag 15 November) waar geword.<\/p>\n

Provinsiale Minister van Infrastruktuur, Tertuis Simmers, tesame met die Breedevallei-munisipaliteit (BVM) het die eerste 44 huise van 190 by die Transhex-behuisprojek oorhandig.<\/p>\n

Talle rolspelers betrokke by die projek en die eerste groep begunstigdes het die seremonie Woensdagoggend bygewoon.<\/p>\n

Hierdie omstrede projek is in 2017 van stapel gestuur en het \u2019n reeks uitdagings ervaar.<\/p>\n

Die grootste uitdaging waaroor Standard <\/em>al voorheen berig het was die feit dat die Covid-19-pandemie alle bouwerk tot stilstand gebring het en dat die aflewering van materiaal wat benodig word om die bouwerk af te handel, gesloer het.<\/p>\n

Die aanvanklike kontrakteur wat deur die provinsiale span aangestel was, is ook einde 2020 van hul pligte ontneem en \u2019n nuwe kontrakteur moes egter die projek oorneem en verder bestuur. Dit het ook \u2019n reeks uitdagings na vore gebring. Verlede jaar sou die eerste groep huise oorhandig word, maar is op die dag van oorhandiging vir eers uitgestel.<\/p>\n

Nou, ses jaar later, kan begunstigdes vir die eerste fase van die projek, nes begin skrop.<\/p>\n

Dit is die eerste eenhede wat vandeesweek by die Transhex-behuisingsprojek teen die R60 oorhandig word.<\/div>\n
<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dinah Sibala (75), die eerste begunstigde op die dag, het aan Standard <\/em>ges\u00ea: \u201cEk wil graag almal bedank wat betrokke was om hierdie dag moontlik te maak. Ek het elke dag vir hierdie oomblik gebid en uiteindelik kan ek s\u00ea my gebede is beantwoord. Ek wil daardie mense wat nog op \u2019n geleentheid wag, aanmoedig om nie hoop te verloor nie. Ek sien uit daarna om my eerste maaltyd vir my kleinseun in hierdie kombuis te kook.\u201d<\/p>\n

Begunstigdes soos Sibala is tans besig om stuk-vir-stuk in te trek.<\/p>\n

Die begrotingsprojek van R370 miljoen sal die volledige oorhandiging van 190 huise oor die volgende paar dae meebring.<\/p>\n

Daar word beoog om 3 231 behuisingsgeleenthede aan die einde van al die fases te skep. <\/p>\n

\u201cGedurende hierdie eerste fase was die projek \u2019n baken van hoop vir die groter Breedevallei. Dit het die ekonomiese aktiwiteit vernuwe deur 21 klein-, medium- en makro-ondernemings (KMMO\u2019s) aan te stel en 47 werksgeleenthede vir plaaslike werksoekers geskep,\u201d verduidelik woordvoerder van die provinsiale departement, Ntobeko Mbingeleli aan Standard<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Simmers en sy span is trots op wat bereik is in die streek.<\/p>\n

\u201cDie wag is nou verby vir hierdie begunstigdes aangesien hulle hul eerste nag in hul huise nou kan deurbring. \u2019n Beduidende mylpaal vir die twee sfere van regering en die plaaslike gemeenskap. \u2019n Tyd vir almal om te besin oor wat hier bereik is en die blywende impak wat dit vir Breedevallei sal h\u00ea. Ons het inderdaad die hoop van die burgers en ekonomie in hierdie streek deur hierdie projek herstel. Ek sien uit daarna om terug te keer en die volle 3 231 behuisingsgeleenthede te lewer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burgemeester Antoinette Steyn, asook die onderburgemeester Juben von Willingh en burgemeesterskomiteelid vir behuising, Palesa Ramokhabi, het die verrigtinge bygewoon en \u2019n video geplaas na afloop van die seremonie.<\/p>\n

\u201cOns is verheug om vandag die eerste gros huise te kon oorhandig. Dit was \u2019n geweldige mylpaal vir ons en almal betrokke. Dit is baie verblydend om te sien hoe opgewonde mense is om hul eie huis te ontvang en dit sal verewig \u2019n blywende impak op ons h\u00ea. Dit is \u2019n wonderlike gevoel om by te dra tot ander se menswaardigheid en kon hierdeur – in die vorm van \u2019n huis – vir mense weer hierdie menswaardigheid bied,\u201d het Steyn ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n

Een van die begunstigdes, Mpho Shabali (63), se dogter, Minny, het aan Standard<\/em> vertel dat hulle nie kan wag om oor die naweek in te trek nie.<\/p>\n
