Worcester police are still searching for a missing 7-year-old boy, who presumably drowned, on Saturday 18 February, as previously reported in the Standard.<\/i><\/p>\n
According to the boy\u2019s mother her son fell into the water while the two of them were wading through a dam to get to the other side. The boy was on her back.<\/p>\n
The boy and his mother had travelled from Gqeberha and were heading to Ceres after disembarking from the bus. However, according to Warrant Officer Vathiswa Jacobs, a spokesperson for the Worcester police, the woman and her son remained at the filling station of the N1 outside Worcester.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe got off the bus on Monday 13 February and stayed at the filling station the whole day,\u201d she said. \u201cThe next day the woman and her son went to a nearby farm on the Old N1, where they stayed until Saturday 18 February.\u201d That is also the day she decided to start looking for a road that would lead her to Ceres, the spokesperson said before. <\/p>\n
The mother explained to the police she was carrying her son on her back when he fell into the water. She picked him up and continued walking. When they reached the other side of the dam she saw he wasn\u2019t breathing and tried to resuscitate him but it did not work. She left him to find help and on her return the boy was no longer where she had left him.<\/p>\n
