Twee lede van die Rawsonville-rugbyklub, JG du Plessis (33) en Adriaan Botha (32), het onlangs hul lywe popster gehou toe hulle \u2019n sokkietreffer genaamd \u201cDie ou N1\u201d, wat oor die rugbyklub se avonture gaan, bekend gestel het.<\/p>\n

JG du Plessies, die een lid van die duo se band<\/span>, Platteland Donkie, begin die lied deur te sing hoe die groen aangesig van die wingerde \u2019n mens begroet wanneer jy na Rawsonville op die ou nasionale pad van die Hugenote-tonnel af ry.<\/p>\n

Saam met \u2019n opbeurende kitaar-deuntjie sing Du Plessis verder en verduidelik wat als in Rawsonville te ete en drinke is, voordat die lied \u2019n draai gaan maak by die stoute en skreeusnaakse tradisies van die Rawsonville-rugbyklub.<\/p>\n

Van hierdie tradisies wat in die enkelsnit na vore kom, is om n\u00e1 oefeninge of wedstryde \u2019n dop by die klubhuis te drink. Voordat \u201cdie eerste vrou bel\u201d en haar man huis toe roep, word die klubhuis van binne gesluit en die sleutel by die venster uitgegooi sodat die spelers verder m\u00f3\u00e9t kuier.<\/p>\n

Volgens Botha het hy en Du Plessis mekaar sowat drie jaar gelede ontmoet weens hul betrokkenheid by die Rawsonville-rugbyklub en besef albei het \u2019n passie vir musiek.<\/p>\n

N\u00e1 \u2019n braai en \u2019n tydjie se gesels het di\u00e9 twee besluit om hul liefde vir musiek verder te neem en Platteland Donkie-band<\/span> is in Oktober 2021 gestig. \u2019n Week gelede is hul eerste enkelsnit bekend gestel deur Olly van Schalkwyk van Ollyvans Recording Studios in Franschhoek.<\/p>\n

Du Plessis s\u00ea die duo is dankbaar vir Olly se bystand. Volgens hom het die duo op hierdie naam besluit nadat hy dit op Peach van Pletzen se YouTube-kanaal in \u2019n grap gehoor het, waarna Du Plessis toe vir hom \u2019n boodskap gestuur en toestemming gevra het om die naam te gebruik.<\/p>\n

Luisteraars en volgelinge van Platteland Donkie kan ook uitsien na nog \u2019n enkelsnit wat in Mei bekend gestel word, asook \u201cDie ou N1\u201d se musiekvideo, wat binnekort vrygestel gaan word.<\/p>\n

Botha is oorspronklik van Rawsonville en boer tans op sy familie-plaas, terwyl Du Plessis vier jaar gelede van Vredendal af Rawsonville toe getrek het en tans as \u2019n berader praktiseer. <\/p>\n

Albei lede van die groep is steeds betrokke by die Rawsonville-rugbyklub \u2013 Botha as \u2019n speler wat ook in die komitee dien, en Du Plessis as \u2019n kommentator.<\/p>\n

Du Plessis het ook verduidelik dat die doel van Platteland Donkie en die vrystelling van \u201cDie ou N1\u201d was om sy en Botha se passie vir musiek uit te leef en \u2019n liedjie vir die Rawsonville-rugbyklub te skryf wat gespeel kan word wanneer hul op die veld uitdraf.<\/p>\n
