A successful joint-intelligence disruptive high-density operation was conducted in Worcester during which six suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs, possession of an imitation firearm, dealing in liquor and three wanted suspects were arrested by the detectives. <\/p>\n
Such integrated operations are a weekly occurrence in an effort to curb, combat and detect crime throughout the province. They also address crime generators such as drugs, alcohol and illegal firearms with raids executed at illegal liquor outlets, suspected drug outlets and compliance inspections carried out at licensed liquor outlets. <\/p>\n
They are set to continue until crime levels are drastically reduced. Scores of police officials from various units and police stations are deployed to these operations on a weekly basis. The operation was executed simultaneously in the different sectors of Worcester.<\/p>\n
The units and stakeholders involved were Vispol, Detectives, Crime Intelligence, Worcester Anti-Gang Unit (AGU), Boland POPS, Law Enforcement, Capital Security, Rural Private Security, K9 Unit and Neighbourhood Watch. <\/p>\n
The Cape Winelands District Commander, Major General Marius Groenewald, addressed the parade and thanked members, pointing out that police are there to serve the community and combat crime.<\/p>\n
While conducting a search at Roodewal flats the police found a ZiP gun hidden under a bed and one suspect, a 41-year-old man, was arrested for possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n
A search was conducted in Bloedrivier, where a man was arrested for dealing in liquor, after 70,25 F<\/span> of beer was seized.<\/p>\n Then Worcester AGU and other members conducted a search in the OVD area, where they found drugs hidden in a garage, and one 40-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.<\/p>\n They found 792 whole Mandrax tablets and two half-Mandrax tablets, and they also found 102 g of Tik.<\/p>\n All six suspects are expected to make their court appearance in Worcester Magistrates\u2019 Court once they have been
