Twee Worcesteriete gaan Suid-Afrika se universiteitspan verteenwoordig by die W\u00eareld-universiteitspele in Chengdu, China van 28 Julie tot 8 Augustus.<\/p>\n

Rogail Joseph (23) en Francois Prinsloo (22), albei oudleerders van Worcester Gimnasium, is gekies om die re\u00ebnboognasie te verteenwoordig in twee verskillende atletiek-items.<\/p>\n

Volgens Joseph, wat tans haar graad in afrigtingswetenskap voltooi aan die Universiteit van Noord-Wes, is sy gekies vir die Suid-Afrikaanse span nadat sy aan die Suid-Afrikaanse atletiekkampioenskap in Maart in die Vrystaat deelgeneem het.<\/p>\n

Sy het in \u2019n tyd van 58 sekondes die 400 m hekkies-nommer voltooi, dieselfde nommer waaraan sy ook gaan deelneem by die spele in China, en reeds vir etlike jare aan skaaf en werskaf.<\/p>\n

\u201cEk het met atletiek op laerskool begin in graad sewe toe Rodney Booysen my daaraan bekend gestel het,\u201d volgens Joseph.<\/p>\n

Rodney Booysen is \u2019n bekende atletiekafrigter in Worcester, asook adjunkhoof by Riverview Prim\u00eare Skool, wat Joseph se \u201cfondasie in atletiek gel\u00ea het\u201d, volgens haar.<\/p>\n

Joseph oefen reeds vir maande om aan di\u00e9 spele deel te neem en volg \u2019n vyfdae-oefenprogram wat verdeel word in tyd op die atletiekbaan en in die gimnasium.<\/p>\n

\u201cDie gim-<\/span>gedeelte is definitief my gunsteling,\u201d het Joseph ges\u00ea, wat verduidelik dit het haar \u2019n welverdiende blaaskans gee van die harde kardio-werk op die baan.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy droom is om eendag aan die Olimpiese Spele deel te neem,\u201d het Joseph ges\u00ea, en nederig verduidelik dat di\u00e9 droom nie t\u00e9 onbereikbaar is nie, weens haar tyd wat sy tans slegs met twee sekondes moet verbeter om die afsnytyd van 54 sekondes te haal.<\/p>\n

Joseph raai ander atlete aan wat dieselfde sukses as sy wil bereik om \u201cdissipline\u201d te handhaaf, \u201chard te werk\u201d en te \u201cglo\u201d dat dit gedoen kan word.<\/p>\n

Prinsloo is n\u00f3g \u2019n talentvolle Worcesteriet wat aan die spele gaan deelneem, en Suid-Afrika in diskus gaan verteenwoordig.<\/p>\n

\u201cEk het in graad vier met diskus begin. Ek het die ouer kinders gesien diskus gooi, en gedink dit lyk cool<\/span>, toe vra ek vir my pa of hy my kan help,\u201d het hy telefonies verduidelik.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n Min wetend dat Prinsloo se pa \u00f3\u00f3k \u2019n ywerige veldatleet was, het di\u00e9 twee klippe in hul tuin opgetel waar Prinsloo se pa dan vir sy seun in \u2019n nabye veld gewys het presies hoe dit gedoen word.<\/span>
\n Gedurende die res van Prinsloo se ho\u00ebrskoolloopbaan het hy altyd sy pa se afrigtingstegnieke toegepas terwyl hy ook gebruik gemaak het van ander afrigting.<\/span>
\n \n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cEk was altyd sportief, en altyd \u2019n vinnige laaitie,\u201d volgens Prinsloo, en het as gevolg van die talent verskeie atletiekspanne gehaal en selfs \u2019n sportbeurs aan die universiteit van South Alabama losgeslaan, waar hy tans biologie studeer.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cMy droom is om die Olimpiese span te haal en volgende jaar aan die Olimpiese Spele deel te neem [in Frankryk],\u201d volgens Prinsloo.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n Tans gooi Prinsloo \u2019n afstand van 62 m, wat slegs twee meter kort is van die Olimpiese span se afstand van 64 meter.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n Hy het drie sibbes, en sy ouers woon steeds in Worcester.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
