Die Worcester Prim\u00eare Skool (WPS) se o.13A-rugbyspan versit berge en klim elke jaar net ho\u00ebr namate die spelers en hul doelgerigte afrigters van krag tot krag gaan en gevestigde rugbyskole soos die Laerskool Grey College in Bloemfontein ore aansit.<\/p>\n

Di\u00e9 spogskool met sowat 880 leerders se o.13A-rugbyspan het in Julie aan die Laerskool Park se sewestoernooi deelgeneem, waar hulle teen die Laerskool Grey College met 20-10 in die eindronde gewen het.<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Cilliers, WPS se onderhoof asook die o.13A-rugbyspan se afrigter, is reeds van 1986 af deel van di\u00e9 skool as onderwyser en sportafrigter en het in 2001 meer op spesifiek die o.13A-rugby- en krieketspan se afrigting begin fokus, waarna hy in 2014 as onderhoof aangestel is.<\/p>\n

Cilliers het per e-pos aan die Standard<\/span> verduidelik dat hy \u201cbaie lief is vir rugby-afrigting\u201d en die spelers aanmoedig om te groei in hul skoolloopbaan en goeie waardes te ontwikkel, wat hulle n\u00e1 skool kan toepas.<\/p>\n

Cilliers het verduidelik sy resep vir sukses sluit in om kursusse en klinieke by te woon wat sy afrigting verbeter, asook om ander top-rugby\u00adafrigters na WPS uit te nooi om die o.13A-rugbyspan nuwe strategie\u00eb en truuks te leer.<\/p>\n

\u201cOns [WPS] speel gereeld teen groter en sterker skole om al die spelers die geleentheid te gee, maar ook om ons [WPS se] rugby sterker te maak. Ons speel teen groot en sterk skole, en probeer om verskeie sterk kompetisies by te woon,\u201d het Cilliers uitgebrei.<\/p>\n

Buiten die Laerskool Park se sewestoernooi, neem WPS ook aan die gewilde Wildeklawer-rugbytoernooi vir laerskole deel, waar die kaf van die koring geskei word.<\/p>\n

Reeds met die toernooi se totstandkoming in 2014 het WPS se o.13A-rugbyspan ander skole laat les ops\u00ea. <\/p>\n

In 2015 en 2016 was hulle derde, terwyl die skool weer in 2018 gewen het, en in 2019 weer die derde plek behaal het.<\/p>\n

In 2022 het die skool weer eens weggestap as die wenners, terwyl hulle vanjaar in die eindronde teen die Laerskool Grey College verloor het.<\/p>\n

Sedert 2022 neem die rugbyspan ook deel aan die Grey Super Series, waar hulle verlede jaar gewen en vanjaar derde ge\u00ebindig het.<\/p>\n

Nog \u2019n resep wat Cilliers jaar vir jaar volg, is om goeie dissipline toe te pas \u2013 \u201c \u2019n stewige, vinnige spelpatroon met baie ho\u00eb intensiteit, fiksheid, asook nederigheid, maar met die wil om hul beste te lewer\u201d. <\/p>\n

Volgens Cilliers begin hy reeds in September met die nuwe groep o.13A-rugbyspelers waar hy \u201cvolstoom\u201d vir tien maande werk om die spelers se rugbyvernuf te verskerp.<\/p>\n

Van hierdie taktieke sluit onder meer ook stoeiklasse in om spelers se spiere te versterk.<\/p>\n

\u201cMet my begin as jong onderwyser in 1986 was dit vir my ongelooflik om te sien hoe sterk WPS se rugby is \u2014 dit was destyds waarskynlik nommer een in Suid-Afrika.<\/p>\n

\u201cOns hou ons seuns nederig by die skool en maak nie groot ophef nie. Ons respekteer elke skool teen wie ons speel en handhaaf goeie sportmanskap,\u201d het Cilliers ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n
