Members of my family and I were stranded in Robertson on Monday 25 September, when all roads to Cape Town were closed due to torrential rain.<\/p>\n
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire community of Robertson and surrounds.<\/p>\n
Policemen and rescue workers were friendly and helpful, locals were so kind and accommodating and even fellow traveller\u2019s were tolerant.<\/p>\n
We were so impressed by the way everyone mobilised so quickly to help strangers.<\/p>\n
The Roberston Info Centre helped direct us to the Robertson Oos Gemeente Hall, where we spent most of the night. We were welcomed warmly and made to feel very comfortable in what was a very uncertain and anxious time for us.<\/p>\n
We were so humbled by the way all our immediate needs were taken care of under what must have been very difficult circumstances for the people of Robertson.<\/p>\n
We were able to continue our journey to Cape Town at about 03:30 on Tuesday and I was even able to make my flight back to Johannesburg that morning. We left your beautiful town feeling very humbled and emotional by the experience and wish to thank you for this.<\/p>\n
We wish you well with all the clean- up operations.<\/p>\n
We jokingly called ourselves Refugees of Climate, but truly felt the care of so many people.<\/p>\n
