This March the Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is rallying the public to make a life-saving difference by donating blood. With the effort to raise awareness and educate the community about the critical need for new blood donors, particularly among the youth, WCBS is rolling out a series of blood-grouping and donor-registration exhibitions across various venues.<\/p>\n
Marike Carli, the Public Relations Manager at the Western Cape Blood Service, underscores the importance of this campaign. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal is to increase the active blood donor base in the Western Cape to reflect 1% to 2% of the population,\u201d she said. \u201cCurrently, we only have 0,95% active donors, posing a challenge to meet the ongoing demand.\u201d<\/p>\n
To facilitate donor registration WCBS will host blood-grouping exhibitions at the following locations:.<\/span> Worcester 8 March, 12:00-14:00, at the WCBS caravan at Medi-Clinic .<\/span> Bonnievale 12 March, 16:00-19:30, at the DR church hall, Church Street.<\/span> Wolseley 18 March, 16:30-19:00, at the DR church hall, 21 Voortrekker Street <\/p>\n If you are aged 16 years and older, weigh more than 50 kg and are reasonably healthy please visit these centres.<\/p>\n This initiative aims not only to bolster the blood-donor base, but also to raise awareness about the importance of regular blood donation in saving lives. Every blood donation has the potential to make a significant impact on those in need, whether they are accident victims, undergoing surgery or receiving treatment for medical conditions.<\/p>\n The Western Cape Blood Service encourages all eligible individuals to become part of the lifesaving effort.
