Op net sewe maande oud is Jomiaycah Pike afhanklik van medikasie om sy lewer te help funksioneer en moet hy so gou moontlik \u2019n leweroorplanting ondergaan. <\/p>\n

Sy ma vertel toe hy ses weke oud was, het sy opgelet iets is nie lekker nie.<\/p>\n

\u201cEk het opgelet sy geelsug gaan nie weg nie. By die kliniek het hulle vir my ges\u00ea dis normaal. Maar op agt weke het ek opgelet die regterkant van sy maag is geswel en sy hele liggaam was geel. Hy is toe vir \u2019n week in die hospitaal opgeneem. Daar het die dokters my ingelig dat my seun met \u2019n vergrote lewer gebore is. Ons is na Tygerberg-hospitaal oorgeplaas en bili\u00eare atresie is by hom gediagnoseer,\u201d verduidelik die seuntjie se ma, Vanessa Flink.<\/p>\n

Bili\u00eare atresie is \u2019n blokkasie in die buise wat gal van die lewer na die galblaas vervoer. In Tygerberg-hospitaal het klein Jomaiycah \u2019n operasie ondergaan.<\/p>\n

\u201cDie dokters het van sy verteringstelsel afgesny en aan sy lewer geheg sodat dit met die funksie daarvan kon help. Hy was toe net twee maande oud.\u201d Maar Flink het opgelet haar seun se toestand toon nie veel verbetering nie.<\/p>\n

\u201cMet ons opvolgbesoek op 4 April het hulle bloed getrek en getoets. Die toetse se resultate het getoon dat die operasie nie suksesvol was nie en dat sy hele lewer siek en hard is. Hy kry tans medikasie wat die lewer help funksioneer.\u201d <\/p>\n

Maar saam met die uitslae het sy ook ander ontstellende nuus ontvang.<\/p>\n

\u201cHulle het gevra met ons volgende besoek dat baba se pa ook moet saamgaan. Ek gaan gewoonlik alleen omdat hy werk. Hulle gaan toets om vas te stel of ek of sy pa dalk vir hom \u2019n nier kan skenk. Maar hulle het ook ges\u00ea as een van ons nie kan nie, moet hy op die waglys geplaas word.\u201d <\/p>\n

Sy noem ook dat hierdie \u2019n besonder moeilike tyd vir hulle as gesin is. \u201cEk en sy pa staan op trou. Maar as gevolg van al die hospitaalbesoeke, vier keer per maand, het ons besluit om ons troue uit te stel sodat ons die geld wat ons gespaar het vir daai onkoste kan gebruik. Die hospitaal het ook gevra of ons geld sal h\u00ea om n\u00e1 die oorplanting al my seun se nasorg mediese onkoste te dek. So dis waarheen ons nou werk.\u201d <\/p>\n

Flink voeg by dis die eerste keer dat sy met so \u2019n ernstige siekte te doen het.<\/p>\n

\u201cVoor sy diagnose was dit iets waarvan ek nog nooit gehoor het nie. Al waaraan ek heeltyd gedink het n\u00e1 die diagnose was wat as ek my nooit ontferm het nie? Wat as ek nie betyds by die hospitaal uitgekom het nie?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u2019n Weldoener, Marquenice Brinkhuys, het besluit om die familie by te staan. <\/p>\n

\u201cEk het \u2019n Back-a-buddy-blad begin en gaan Vrydag 14 Junie \u2019n roeti-en-kerrie-verkoping hou.\u201d Flink voeg by sy wil nie inhalig wees nie, en wil graag deur middel van die geldinsamelingsblad minstens R20 000 insamel. <\/p>\n
