Three talented members of the Worcester Underwater Hockey Club recently made their mark on the international stage. <\/p>\n
Mari le Roux, a student at Montana High School, Van Wyk Reitz, a promising athlete from Worcester Gymnasium, and coach Riaan le Roux represented South Africa at the CMAS (Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration Mondiale des Activit\u00e9s Subaquatiques – World Underwater Federation) 6th Underwater Hockey Age Group World Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 20 to 27 July.<\/p>\n
Mari (U19 Women\u2019s Division) showcased her skills and determination in a fiercely competitive category.<\/p>\n
Van Wyk demonstrated his prowess in the u-19 Men\u2019s division.<\/p>\n
Le Roux (Development Coach u-19 Men\u2019s Division): Riaan played a crucial role in his young charges\u2019 preparation and performance. He is also chairperson, player and coach at the Worcester Underwater Hockey Club.<\/p>\n
\n Impressive results<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
Despite facing tough opponents the South African teams quite simply stood their ground. <\/p>\n
The u-19 Women\u2019s team secured an impressive fifth place, while the u-19 Men\u2019s team finished strong in seventh place. Their dedication, teamwork and passion for underwater hockey were evident throughout the championship.<\/p>\n
