Engen has renewed its partnership with the Breede Valley Association for Persons with Disabilities (BVAPD), extending their joint efforts to support persons with disabilities in the Western Cape. <\/p>\n
This collaboration, now in its third year, continues to focus on empowerment and sustainable inclusion, with new initiatives planned for 2024-2025.<\/p>\n
One highlight of the partnership, the WEMove project, has made a significant impact since its inception in 2022 by upskilling participants and placing them in local businesses, including a major grocery store, panel beaters, a cr\u00e8che, and a bike shop. Thirteen individuals have secured placements, and two have received permanent positions. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis success reflects the impact of WEMove in helping people achieve independence,\u201d said Anelda Rabie from BVAPD.<\/p>\n
Building on this, BVAPD will launch a Jobcoach initiative in 2024 to offer continued guidance for beneficiaries in the workplace. Olwethu Mdabula, Engen\u2019s CSI Manager, explained that the Jobcoach will support participants in overcoming workplace challenges, reinforcing a smoother, more sustainable transition into employment.<\/p>\n
The partnership also aims to conduct corporate sensitisation training and facilitate new job placements for the first group of 24 participants.<\/p>\n
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Engen\u2019s commitment to inclusive development supports both quality education and decent work and economic growth.
