Die rivier het sterk gevloei en oor die brug gespoel n\u00e1 goeie re\u00ebn die naweek geval het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Julene van Wyk (24) en haar 20-jarige suster, Samantha, was op pad om di\u00e9 se mansvriend te ontmoet wat van Ceres af sou kom. Die twee vroue het deur die water oor die laagwaterbruggie geloop toe die stroom Julene meesleur. Samantha het haar hand gegryp en self in die water beland, het AO Vathiswa Jacobs, woordvoerder van die Worcester-polisie, ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Die twee vroue is stroomaf waar die jonger suster \u2018n tak kon vasgryp. Sy was egter nie sterk genoeg om haar greep op haar suster se hand te hou nie en die water het haar gevat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Samantha het aan die Worcester-polisie ges\u00ea dat sy uit die water kon kom maar nie meer haar suster kon sien nie. Sy is na die plek toe wat sy gedink het haar vriend sou wees om te keer dat hy ook die water probeer oorsteek, en om hulp te kry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Die twee kon &#8216;n verbygaande verkeersbeampte se aandag trek en hy het hulp ontbied.<br>Die soektog na Julene was tydelik opgeskort toe weerstoestande versleg het en die water gevaarlik sterk geraak het, maar is later weer voortgesit deur &#8216;n reddingspan van die nooddienste, polisie en duikspanne. Hommeltuie is ook ingespan om haar te probeer opspoor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Volgens berigte is Julene se liggaam sowat 2km stroomaf deur die soekspanne gevind.<br>Meegevoel met die familie n\u00e1 hierdie tragiese voorval het van wyd af ingestroom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Antoinette Steyn, uitvoerende burgemeester van die Breedevallei-munisipaliteit, het op Facebook geskryf: &#8220;Die ontydige verlies van &#8216;n lewe, veral onder sulke hartverskeurende omstandighede, laat &#8216;n leemte wat ons nie met woorde kan vul nie. Namens die raad en die hele gemeenskap, bied ek ons gesamentlike ondersteuning en gebede aan die familie in hierdie tyd van rou.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Billy Claassen van die landelike en plaaswerkers-ontwikkelingsorganisasie het die gesin tydens die soektog ondersteun. Volgens hom het hul ook hul moeder net vier maande gelede verloor en is die gesin erg getraumatiseer. Hy het gere\u00ebl dat maatskaplike dienste hulle ondersteun.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daar is al dikwels oor soortgelyke voorvalle berig en bewusmaking word jaarliks gedoen, veral onder skoolgaande kinders, om nie laagwaterbr\u00fbe te probeer oorsteek wanneer dit onder water is nie.
