The community of Nduli in Ceres is buzzing after an armed robbery which took place at the local supermarket ended in a shoot-out.
According to a spokesperson of the Ceres police, two unknown suspects entered U-Save in Nduli and demanded, at gun-point, that everyone lie on the ground.
“One suspect kicked an employee of U-Save in the face and demanded that he open the safe in the cash office.”
One of the safes was opened and R1 500 was taken. The second safe has a time delay and could not open. They then fled the shop, after they took a community worker’s cellphone.
When they left the shop they started shooting at police officers who had responded.
One police officer was wounded after which the suspects fled the scene.
The wounded officer was hospitalised.
