Longacres High School has welcomed 47 new Grade 8 learners into their high school during The Grade 8 Blazer Ceremony held on 21 January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This ceremony indicates the end of their initiation week where they had to wear a name board around their neck, displaying a baby photo and embarrassing information like when last they got a hiding and the reason for it, their nickname given to them by their parent and the name of their potato-child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During this ceremony they discarded their temporary name boards and were handed their official name badges and blazers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are excited for 2019 and can\u2019t wait to show to the community and the rest of the West Coast District what we can achieve; especially in this year\u2019s systemic tests,\u201d explained the high school principal, Pieter Bosman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
