Matric results day is getting closer, and many prospective matriculants have mixed emotions about this day, as 2020 had been a different year, and a difficult one at that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hagen Ludick, who did his matric at Piketberg High School, says being in the class of 2020 gave him a sink-or-swim experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He admits the first three months of the year were pure bliss, and the matrics experienced everything as much as they could. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut when the first lockdown set in and we were ordered home, everything took a turn for the worse,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think spending those weeks at home without actually being in class to ask questions and getting the desired help from teachers is where my anxiety began. It took me a while to adapt, even though I had no other choice.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Francesca Olivier, a matric candidate at Porterville High School, agrees that the year started off with a bang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI had a great first term, unaware of the challenging time that lay ahead. At first the new rules and regulations were something to get used to, but later it became easier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having to learn at home and attending online classes most of the year there were also mixed feelings about the final exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olivier says, the thought of final exams was stressful, as matrics were not always sure if they would finish the curriculum before the finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe exam period itself felt stretched, and I believe it tested each student\u2019s motivation and determination, as the exams were definitely out of the ordinary.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ludick and Olivier both believe they did well in their exams, and they are patiently awaiting their results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
