On Saturday 26 February, four Grade 4 learners from Masiphatisane Primary School in Vredenburg participated in a first-of-its-kind Grade 4 isiXhosa spelling competition at the Protea Hotel in Stellenbosch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Principal Ren\u00e9 Joorst said the aim of the programme was to promote and create opportunities to celebrate the mother tongue in South Africa, and this was an incredible milestone, \u201cespecially for our indigenous languages which include isiXhosa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe learners gave an excellent performance, one we as the Masiphathisane Primary School family can be incredibly proud of. It was a great honour and privilege to see one of our learners placed in the top 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
