Nominations for the 2025 National Teaching Awards are now open. The National Teaching Awards give everyone the opportunity to celebrate teaching excellence and to appreciate the outstanding work done particularly by teachers at public schools each year. All teachers, school-governing bodies and district officials are invited to submit nominations to their principals or centre managers. A minute with the nomination guide and relevant application will be sent to all schools, and details are also available on the WCED website. The categories for this year are: \u2022 Excellence in Grade R Teaching \u2022 Excellence in Primary School Teaching (Grade 1-7) \u2022 Excellence in Primary School Leadership \u2022 Excellence in Secondary School Teaching (Grade 8-12) \u2022 Excellence in Secondary School Leadership \u2022 Excellence in Special Needs Teaching \u2022 Excellence in Special Needs School Leadership \u2022 Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (GET) \u2022 Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (FET) \u2022 Excellence in Teaching Natural Sciences \u2022 Excellence in Teaching Physical Sciences \u2022 Excellence in Teaching Life Skills (Grade 1-6) \u2022 Excellence in Technology \u2013 Enhanced Teaching and Learning \u2022 National Best Teacher Award \u2022 Kader Asmal Lifetime Achievement Award Nominations close on Friday 16 May.
