The Likhona Foundation held a successful sanitary-pad drive in April. What made this exercise particularly special was its ending on Saturday 3 May with a 5 km walk from the Vredenburg \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nosipho Lisa, founder of Likhona, said more than 500 sanitary pads were collected, which were to be distributed among schools in the area, an initiative she has driven annually. She was thankful to every individual for their donation as well as Pick n Pay Ipic Vredenburg, which came on board and made a huge donation.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lisa said the women who joined the walk had so much fun, and thanks to Nicole Lombard of Pick n Pay Ipic \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vredenburg for the coffee treat afterwards. She also thanked Siphosethu Legoabe (Dudu), who has been a pillar and great help with every drive. “She has been so amazing and brought the vibe, making the walk so much fun and enjoyable.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Our vision [as a foundation] is to create opportunities to discover and develop the potential among township youth and give them a platform to grow to their full potential. We believe this will help give vulnerable young girls and boys essential life skills, self-confidence, leadership opportunities, respect for themselves and their peers, positive and healthy life choices and, ultimately, a sense of purpose. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
