You can tackle each of these quickly before you hit the road:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Change oil and filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Change air filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Change spark plugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Make sure your tyre iron and jack are in the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Check your spare tyre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Get a spare key for the car and keep it in your wallet or elsewhere with you in case you lock your keys in the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Bring a plastic funnel to add water or other fluids. Bring a water bucket in case you need to use a river or lake for emergency coolant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Always fill your gas tank when it is half full. Don\u2019t wait too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Make sure your owner\u2019s manual is handy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, you should make a checklist of items to pack in a car survival kit. These can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A chain or thick towing rope;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Electric charger wire;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Flashlight;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Screw drivers and wrenches of different sizes;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Bungee cords;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Pliers;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Hammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before packing up, make one final check of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Check condition of the tyres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Check the tread of the tyres and look for signs of strain, bulges or other damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Tyre pressure: Don\u2019t over-inflate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Wipers and wiper fluid: When the rain falls, you don\u2019t want to discover your wipers are useless. In addition, bug hits can really mess a windshield, so you\u2019ll need a full fluid reservoir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Check coolant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Flush radiator, if you haven\u2019t done so in a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Check fuses and horn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Check high and low beam headlights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Check oil, power steering and brake fluid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022
