Mfesane West Coast, in collaboration with Jazzart Theatre, ran a holiday programme from Tuesday 29 March to Saturday 2 April. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The focus of the programme was on dance, especially contemporary dance. Amanda Mhlawuli, its coordinator, explained its purpose was to keep children busy during the school holidays with constructive and uplifting activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJazzart Theatre brought this initiative to us as part of its community outreach,\u201d she pointed out. \u201cThe children dance the whole week and present what they have learnt to their parents at the end of the week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A number of children from Middlepos, Hopefield and Laingville took part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mhlawuli said the programme was first run in 2021, during the September holidays, and was a huge success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSince then, the children looked forward to this year\u2019s holiday programme and were very excited about taking part in it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added the children also learnt they can make a living out of dancing. \u201cWe are also teaching the children such important life skills as discipline, teamwork, good communication and more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
