Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has gone through a crucial phase of re-imagining itself so it can fulfil its mandate of enabling and facilitating a transformed and sustainable maritime economy in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This according to TNPA\u2019s most recent update to stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Transnet said it has been engaging with various internal stakeholders to ascertain how the business conducts its operations and identify the pain points for both customers and employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the collection of data and analysis a new Operating Model was developed and approved with a three-tier Operating Structure to close the observed gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This led to the development of Regional Structures Eastern Ports, Central Ports and Western Ports which are designed to:.<\/span> Take ownership to run regional ports as profitable, efficient and value-adding business;.<\/span> Plan for operational capacity to ensure that effectiveness, efficiency, cost competitiveness and reliability are monitored, and that growth potential can be realised;.<\/span> Ensure sound operations management by implementing appropriate industrial engineering systems, processes, reporting and internal controls in alignment with Transnet policies and guidelines;.<\/span> Take responsibility for accurate operational and safety reporting in compliance with legislative reporting requirements and deadlines;.<\/span> Ensure compliance to corporate governance and control systems implemented, to ensure sound, auditable operations; and.<\/span> Be physical based within the regions where the ports are operating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Closer to home the TNPA in Saldanha advised that work will be undertaken on the perimeter fencing throughout the Port of Saldanha. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The works will include removal of existing Steel Palisade fencing and installation of Bonded mesh fencing and gates in the following areas: Small Craft harbour, Main Port Entrance, Dunes area, Sunrise Energy-LPG Import Terminal yard, and the entire Bayvue precinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The works will commence in this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The total scope of works is expected to be completed within 12 months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Transnet warns visitors to please
